I drew up three draft ideas for my music magazine front cover to help me give me a better idea on how i would produce my magazine front cover.

for my main feature in my music magazine i decided to get my friends band to be my main feature in my magazine. i asked them to meet me at a train footbridge that had was covered in graffiti, i thought the graffiti would add to the photographs and give them a different feel.
i took the photos from different angles and distances, to vary to photos.

My music magazine ideas.

I have decided that the genre of music i will base my magazine will be Hardcore/Punk/Metal. Because i listen to that type i music, i think i will find it easier to produce a magazine front cover, contents page and double page spread.

For my music magazine, i want a name that is punchy and that reflects the sound of the music i am going to cover.


DESTROY- i came up with this while listening to a song called " Skate and destroy". I thought it was suitable as alot of people who listen to underground music also skate board.

AT THE EDGE- i thought this would be good as a title as the music genre of my magazine is more edgey and up front then others.

DECADES-this title came to mind as it sounds like other age groups could read the magazine. and the music genre/s have been going for "decades".

REFLECTIONS-I have decided im going to use this for my title as it could mean other things such as being different in person and genre.

Analysis of ROCKSOUND Double page spread.

This double page spread has two titles on both of the top hand corners, "EXPOSURE", the pages are from a section of the magazine called "EXPOSURE, this title suggests that bands will be "exposed" and secrets will be announced, but its actually about new, up coming bands.
On the photo, which takes up most of the double page spread, 3 of the band members are wearing rabbit masks, suggesting that they want to remain hidden, or its just for the pose. But if you read through the text, you found out about the masks are about.

Analysis of ROCKSOUND Contents page.

This Contents page has two pages, one titled "MAIN FEATURES" and the other "FEATURES", suggesting that they have done it like this to separate the main interviews, articles and stories, from the other,maybe not so important reviews, news, etc.

The "MAIN FEATURES " contents page photograph is followed on from the front cover, with the full band this time. The photo has been taken or edited to look dark and harsh, which could reflect onto the bands music or lyrics.
On the page it also lists what other important features are in this issue.

On the other side of the contents page, they is a lot more text then the previous page. "EDIT" in the top right hand corner is a note from the editer of the magazine talking about what is inclueded in the issue, this kind of gives an intimate or a bond between the editer and the audience.

Analysis of ROCKSOUND music magazine Front Cover.

ROCKSOUND music magazine includes music genres that aren't as popular and main stream, such as metal, punk,death metal, black metal, experimental, hardcore, metalcore. Other magazines that do this are Kerrang, Metal Hammer and AP(alternative press).

On this front cover of this issue, the singer of the "gallows" dominates the front cover with a "rock star" pose, And just to the left of him they is a quote from himself which pulls the audience to read more. because of the photo taking up practiclly all the cover space, and then the sub title tells the audience that this band are one of the main features of this issue.

A part of the mast head is covered by the head of the singer of the band, but as the magazine is well known, its easy to spot.

Down either sides it lists what else is in this issue.
